We ran a survey on our website recently to ask if businesses had reduced the number of marketing messages they send (email, SMS etc.) as a result of GDPR - and 42% of UK based respondents said yes, they had. A further 42.7% said they’d made no changes, and 15.4% said they were sending more messages.* What we’ve discovered when talking to business owners and marketers is that people don’t fully understand the regulation, and so are being very cautious. One in five Brits never carries cash, they want to pay by their contactless card, or by their smartphone, with half of Brits surveyed by First Bus stating that ‘cash is on the way out.’ Retailers have led the way in already adjusting their payment options to suit the modern day customer, and those that have, have seen huge benefits and uplifts. 39% of 2017 Black Friday sales were made through a smartphone, making it the device of choice beating the desktop and tablet to the lion share of the sales. The Black Friday madness is well underway, with the majority of the big retailers starting their usual Black Friday week campaigns yesterday, from Amazon to John Lewis, Black Friday is certainly showing no signs of slowing down this year! Every year the Black Friday sales figures unbelievably get bigger and bigger.
